Our Mission

Rick the Truck exists for one reason: to make kids fall in love with reading. We believe every child deserves books that feel exciting, funny, and made just for them. When a kid's eyes light up and they want to read more of Rick's stories...or any stories....that's the point!

A.I. and Social Media Statement

Our creative team decided that from the start of Rick's journey, all our stories would come from human imagination. The written parts are imagined, written, edited, and revised by human beings. The visual parts are imagined, sketched, inked, revised, and colored by human beings. We will also ask all creative partners to avoid using AI during story building. Key word to this entire process is IMAGINED. We hope to bring the power of imagination to kids so they can create their own fun characters and worlds!

We will not be using TikTok, Instagram, or any social media. The exception will be for announcements on Facebook; and YouTube videos for book releases and creating our characters. We want to use our reading visits and word of mouth to create excitement for Rick's world.

The story of Rick the Truck began with tall tales of an old wooden bed pickup truck and fantastic adventures; then transformed into a simple idea: what if trucks had feelings, dreams, and adventures just like kids do? From that spark, an entire world was born — full of challenging roads, brave rescues, lessons learned and friendships that last forever.

With a passion for reading, learning, and a love for making kids of all ages laugh; Doc Rosco set out to create books that children would want to read again and again. Rick the Truck is the result. Doc Rosco lives in Western NC with his animals. He bores them with multitudes of moderately funny jokes, haha!
